Dr. Shinkle grew up in the small town of Springville, Utah. After high school, he spent two years working on an elite wildland fire crew. In 2004, he graduated summa cum laude from Utah Valley University. Before attending medical school, he was an accomplished researcher. He attended medical school at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, with a full academic scholarship. Following medical school graduation, he completed a residency in anesthesiology and a fellowship in interventional pain management at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr. Shinkle has made it his life's work managing states of pain. He understands how debilitating painful conditions can be and how they can negatively impact a person and their loved ones. He strives to improve the quality of life and emotional well-being of his patients. Dr. Shinkle firmly believes in a comprehensive approach to pain management. He uses all the latest techniques to reduce the burden of pain. He specializes in minimally invasive treatment options, as well as the latest medications for treating painful conditions.
In his free time, Dr. Shinkle enjoys working on his small equestrian farm with his wife and four children. He is an avid outdoorsman, and even though he isn't a native of Alabama, he has taken up the southern sport of hog hunting.
