Dr. Almeida received his BA degree in Biochemistry from the College of Wooster in Ohio and his MD from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland OH. He went on to attend his Residency in Anesthesiology at UAB, followed by a Fellowship in Pain Management at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Almeida joined the UAB Department of Anesthesiology in May of 2009, where he served as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pain Management as well as Director of the Continuous Quality Improvement Conference before joining The Center for Pain in April of 2020. Dr. Almeida is Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in Anesthesiology and Pain Management, and is additionally certified by the American Board of Medical Quality. He has published several articles and has lectured at numerous conferences. Dr. Almeida and his wife are avid fans of the Dave Matthews Band and have eight children.
